How much flexibility would I have in choosing consulting assignments?
adtec generally has between 30 to 50 open orders to be staffed with IT professionals from Wisconsin. And we also "market & quote" a consultant's skills and experience to a wide variety of clients even if they don't have a specific opening (but often will in the near future). So there is usually some flexibility. On the other hand, consulting firms stay in business by keeping people working. There's a balance required.
Are all consultants full-time permanent employees?
Most are, but we also have associate employees, paid only for hours worked, but without the full benefit program. And we frequently bring on independent consultants for specialized projects.
How long do consulting assignments usually last?
In our experience, they average from 6 to 9 months, but there is a wide range. Network design and installation can be as short as a few weeks. Application development or custom software can be as long as two years.
Would I be able to work from my home?
This is usually up to the client. Generally, companies want to evaluate the consultant in their work environment before agreeing to development in a home environment. Where working on an adtec-led project solution, such as Website development or custom programming, consultants do at times work at home.
